Freidemann Weidauer, Ph.D. is an associate professor in German.
An exceptional instructor and academic advisor, Prof. Weidauer
specializes in 20th Century Literature and Culture, East and
West German Film. He received his Ph.D. from the University
of Wisconsin.
Course Offerings
GERM 233 - Advanced Language Skills
- Prerequisite: GERM 134 or equivalent. Not open for credit
to students who have passed GERM 201-202 or GERM 204-205.
- Development of oral and written skills using a content-based
methodology and drawing on texts that deal with issues in
contemporary culture of German-speaking countries. Emphasis
on acquisition of a sophisticated understanding of cultural
differences while building vocabulary, improving accuracy,
and increasing facility in self-expression and communication.

GERM 255W - 20th Century German Literature
- Prerequisite or co-requisite: GERM 233 or consent of
instructor.
- Study of a cohesive group of texts that mark the period.
Attention will be given to the relevant socio-historical
context and to the visual and performing arts

certification?
- A: The minimum degree requirement for instructors wishing
to teach Early College Experience German courses is a
Master's of Arts degree in German; however, a candidate
with Master's in Education and sufficiently strong German
background may be considered. The teacher should also regularly
attend proficiency workshops (regional, national) or have
experience (ongoing or at intervals) with a German-speaking
country.
